Trio Accused Of Stealing From Multiple Stores Throughout CT

Three men have been arrested for allegedly stealing large spools of wire at Lowe's stores across Connecticut.

The trio, identified as Daniel Raymond Thomas, age 22, Clarence Gerald Davis, age 22, and 23-year-old Marcus Hunter, all of Fort Worth, Texas, were arrested Wednesday, Nov. 17, in Hartford County when the Southington Police responded to the Lowes Home Improvement, at 500 Executive Blvd S., on a report of a theft of large spools of wire in progress.

It was reported by the store Loss Prevention team, that three men wearing reflective construction vests had selected spools of wire and attempted to pay for the product with a fraudulent Lowes account, police said.

Officers located two suspect vehicles that were involved in the theft. One vehicle was a U-Haul box truck that had been used to transport large spools of wire. 

Another vehicle, a black Honda with Texas registration, fled the area upon observing law enforcement. 

The Honda became disabled after driving erratically caused a flat tire. The driver of the vehicle fled on foot but was apprehended by Southington officers a short distance away,  police said.

A second man fled the area on foot heading towards Target and after a foot chase was apprehended by officers. 

The third man was taken into custody inside the Lowes store.

During this investigation, it was learned that the three men were involved in similar thefts in the Town of Wallingford and the City of New Haven earlier in the day, police said.

Additionally, Daniel Thomas has an active Secret Service Extraditable Federal Warrant for his arrest pertaining to a fraudulent payment scheme being used during these thefts. 

It was learned through this investigation that Daniel Raymond Thomas is a suspect in similar thefts throughout the United States, they added.

The items attempted to be stolen in Southington were worth $6,939.34.

The bonds for all three men were $150,000.
